Point of View will be premiering artistic works through a live stream on December 11, 2020 at 7:30 pm. Each work will explore the different humanistic experiences that one goes through. The artists take many different approaches, allowing the audience to experience the work through many diverse lenses.
During this live stream showing, senior Kaylyn Alston choreographs a trio with an original sound score composed by Glen Fittin which explores the concepts of being introverted, extroverted & an ambivert. In Quashierra Muhammad's senior solo, choreographed by Peter Chi, she delivers smooth, resisted, and staccato moves in the body that emphasizes identity but is untied by her character's pulsing lineage. Rise choreographed by Sahai Heyward is an ensemble work that celebrates Black culture and life. This work combines movement styles varying from Jazz, West African, and Modern to showcase the layers of Black culture. This work provides the opportunity for the audience and dancers to participate in a visual dialogue that preserves Black heritage and traditions. There will also be works created by Julianna Rasmussen, Jess Lavenda, Gabrielle Colella, Samantha Barraco, Megan Theobald, Lorna Fontana, Sahai Heyward, Briana Bolt, Skylar Rienert, Elena Dalla Torre, and Kayla Fleming.
